Community Based Tourism
Changkran Roy community-based forest eco-tourism has established and helped by GIZ from the beginning, after the GIZ phased out, it was handed over to GED Unity to continued supporting and cooperate with different NGOs, IOs and government partners on natural resource management, how to conserve forest, and how to take nontimber products. Latest support is Bird Watching NGO has helped to seek for the visitors to watch birds in the community. Changkran Roy community-based forest eco-tourism has a total of 9,104 Ha of forest land and a total number of members 3,883 persons from eleven villages of the five communes in Varin district, Siem Reap province. Many services are available there such as a cook group, a local guide group, a transportation group (hand tractors), an herbal medicine group, a tent camping group, a front desk group, and 4 controlling groups. All the groups are mixed women and men members. Thus, tourists can visit and stay overnight there.
