What is Regional Management (RM)?

Regional Management (RM) Approach for Local Economic Development

The Regional Management approaches and processes reflect of implementation with different stakeholders in public, private and civil society that were facilitated by District Administrations partners in Siem Reap province during the framework of the Cooperation GIZ and Cambodian Government's Regional Economic Development (RED I -RED III). The experiences create an RM Manual for facilitation easily and properly. In RED III Regional Management Organization (RMOs) were established as the latest step of approach. The RMOs were established and continued implementation RM approached and processes after GIZ-RED III phased out are OPLED Puok and GED Unity Varin.

In principle the content of this Implementation Manual can be used flexibly and be adjusted to different framework conditions, such as for example different localities and 'regions' in which Regional Management shall be applied; or a context that dine not explicitly follow the Regional Management approach (by e.g. extracting individual activities or parts thereof).

In Cambodia some conceptual elements and selected activities of the RM process form the basis for a Technical Document that NCDD-S develops for assisting District Councils in promoting local economic development.
